LINGUAL BRACES
Completely hidden braces
Lingual braces are one of the most discreet orthodontic treatments available. Unlike conventional braces which are fitted to the front of your teeth, lingual braces are fitted to the inside making them completely invisible from the outside. No one you meet will ever know you’re wearing them.
Each bracket is custom-designed to perfectly match the shape of your individual teeth, applying gentle, consistent pressure to gradually move them into the correct position exactly as traditional braces do, but without anyone being able to see them.
Treatment typically takes between six and nine months, making lingual braces one of the more efficient fixed orthodontic options available.
Who are lingual braces suitable for?
- Anyone for whom discretion is a priority throughout treatment and want effective orthodontic treatment without the appearance of visible braces
- Patients with more complex misalignment that a removable appliance may not fully correct
- Musicians who play wind instruments: lingual braces are less likely to affect your playing than braces fitted to the front of your teeth
SIX MONTH SMILES
Fast and clear fixed braces
Six Month Smiles is a clear fixed brace system designed to straighten teeth quickly and discreetly, and as the name suggests, the treatment is typically completed in six months or less.
This type of alignment treatment is an ideal alternative to traditional metal braces because it is invisible, more comfortable and lets you continue eating and drinking as usual.
The brackets are tooth-coloured and the wires are clear, meaning the braces blend in naturally with your teeth and are barely noticeable. The braces are fitted to the front of your teeth and tightened once every six weeks to encourage quick and effective tooth movement.
Six Month Smiles is a great option for patients who:
- Are looking for a discreet but affordable fixed orthodontic solution
- Want faster results than traditional orthodontic timelines
- Have a special occasion coming up, like a wedding, event or milestone and want their smile ready in time
- Prefer a fixed brace over a removable brace for consistent results
Considering Invisalign?
Some patients complete lingual braces or Six Month Smiles and find their smile is exactly where they want it. Others, particularly those who had Six Month Smiles ahead of a specific occasion, later decide they’d like to take things further and address their bite, back teeth, or overall alignment more comprehensively.

RETAINERS
BRACES AFTERCARE: Keeping Your Smile Straight
Retainers are orthodontic appliances that hold your teeth in position. Once the orthodontic treatment has finished, your dentist will advise that you will need a retainer, to continue maintaining the straightness of the teeth.
It will also ensure that the bite and appearance of the smile doesn’t change. Without a retainer, teeth have a natural tendency to drift back towards their original position over time.
At Viva Dental Studio, we always provide our orthodontic patients with retainers after treatment, and we recommend wearing them consistently to maintain the alignment you’ve worked to achieve.
Types of retainer
- Fixed retainer. A thin wire bonded permanently to the back of your teeth. They’re completely invisible and working around the clock to hold your teeth in place. Fixed retainers are particularly effective for preventing gaps from reopening and for keeping lower front teeth in position.
- Removable retainer. Made from clear plastic, removable retainers are custom-fitted to sit over your teeth and hold them in position. They can be taken out for eating, drinking and cleaning.
